Fiona is an Edinburgh based physical theatre maker, puppeteer, circus performer and teacher and creator of strange, dark and glowing things.

She wants to see a more fair, equal, joyful and honest world- a post patriarchal world. That desire contributes to every piece of work that she makes. The stories that we tell are integral to how we view the world (Monbiot, 2017). Fiona’s work is actively engaged in the search for new stories. Co-director of Edinburgh based physical theatre and circus company, Voice Box Theatre and one half of feminist theatre duo SALTYDOLLS, she obtained a diploma in physical theatre practice in 2016.

With Voice Box she has toured nationally and internationally and has had work commissioned by Puppet Animation Scotland and Dancebase, as well as performing at The Traverse, Assembly Roxy, Summerhall and Surge Scotland.

Recent collaborations include bands Cera Impala and the New Prohibition and Hoodoo Bayou as well as with philosopher Jelena Markovic. An exciting new collaboration, The Furies, made specifically with COVID restrictions in mind, will rage through Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2021.

Selected as a DEBS Dancebase Bursary recipient, she has trained with Al Seed, Judith Milligan, Theatre du Soleil, Alex Rigg and OCEANALLOVER, Puppet Animation Scotland, Company of Wolves and studied voice with Gareth Davies of Merlin's Song.

She also trained as an anthropologist at Goldsmiths, University of London, and this informs much of her work and research. Art, like anthropology, is all about making the familiar strange, and the strange familiar.
